A message from our Executive Director:

​During this unique and crazy year, having a home has never meant more. Now more than ever, our homes became a safe haven, provided shelter from the storm, and gave us hope for a brighter tomorrow. Imagine for a moment that you lost your home, a place of comfort and stability. Or even worse, never had a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home.

Please join us in continuing our mission of ensuring everyone has a place to call home by contributing to York Habitat for Humanity. Your donation will continue the work that has built 138 homes and helped more than 700 men, women, and children from low-income families find home ownership in York County.

The Chestnut Street Neighborhood Revitalization Project
​York Habitat's biggest project to date!

In March, York Habitat was in the middle of two major projects that are making history within our organization. Habitat had started their most ambitious build project to date—14 new homes for low-income families on Chestnut Street in York. Despite inevitable delays and setbacks, the first home of the Chestnut Street Revitalization Project was dedicated in November and the Montalvo family has moved in. Construction continues on the remaining homes and thanks to our dedicated staff and amazing volunteers, we have made up for lost time and are looking forward to welcoming more families to their homes in the months to come.

The York Habitat ReStore
Open for business!

Our other major project in 2020 was opening the York Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a home improvement outlet that sells donated furniture, hardware items, tools, and other products for home renovations. As part of our “hand up, not a handout” mantra, these items are sold at a lower cost than a standard department store. Funds from ReStore will bolster our ability to accomplish other projects throughout the community and build more homes! The new ReStore opened in October and has been very successful so far.
