Background: East Prospect St. Revitalization
Our work on East Prospect Street is part of the Renaissance Project. The Renaissance
Project is a five-year joint effort by the City of York, the YWCA, and Dorgan and Zuck Building Contractors to improve the
social, economic, and physical condition of the Olde Towne East Neighborhood- an approximate 18-block area in the triange
formed by East Prospect Street, Broad Street, and East Princess Street.
The project goal is to create a safe, stable
neighborhood: Increase green space Improve streetscapes & lighting Improve housing stock (21 homes!) Increase & promote homeownership Strengthen community policing Renovate dilapidated buildings Create
play areas Redevelop commercial properties
