Work on these homes will progress throughout 2008.  Thanks to a successful RE-Build-A-Thon in July 2007, we are well on our way, but there is still work to be done.  In order to help with construction, call the office to see what time slots we have available.  Thank you to all of the volunteers who have helped us with this massive project so far!

Dover Borough
York Habitat was the recipient of a generous donation of 6.5 acres of land in Dover Borough. With the completion of the first eight homes on Charles Lane in November 2005, work has begun and four of the next eight homes on Allen Lane have been built.


A total of sixteen homes will be built in our "Field of Dreams" in Dover!

Background: East Prospect St. Revitalization

Our work on East Prospect Street is part of the Renaissance Project.  The Renaissance Project is a five-year joint effort by the City of York, the YWCA, and Dorgan and Zuck Building Contractors to improve the social, economic, and physical condition of the Olde Towne East Neighborhood- an approximate 18-block area in the triange formed by East Prospect Street, Broad Street, and East Princess Street.

The project goal is to create a safe, stable neighborhood:
Increase green space
Improve streetscapes & lighting
Improve housing stock (21 homes!)
Increase & promote homeownership
Strengthen community policing
Renovate dilapidated buildings
Create play areas
Redevelop commercial properties
