Miss York County says, Contributions
of time and skill are crucial to York Habitat for Humanity!
For volunteer construction groups of five or more: To volunteer on the site, large groups must
call in at least 3 weeks ahead of time. Also, a $10 reservation fee per person is required for groups
from local businesses and companies of 5 or more. These requirements have been put in place to ensure that construction
work adheres to our schedule throughout the year (it helps to protect us from last-minute cancellations).
If you are volunteering to fulfill community service hours or school projects, you must bring forms that need to be
completed with you. Sign in sheets on site will help York Habitat for Humanity track your hours.

CONSTRUCTION
No experience is necessary but those with trade skills are always in need.
All site volunteers must be at least 16 years old
Contact the office for updates on the location of current sites (changes on a week-to-week
basis)
You
may give us your contact and availability information over the phone or you may complete the online form below. Contacting
the office is the essential first step in volunteering.
When we receive your information we will inform you as to what days still have volunteer openings
and then we can proceed to schedule you.
Construction work days are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday all year round from 8:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m.
We recommend volunteering for an entire day but many work half-days (if you would like to work a half-day, we suggest
doing the morning shift because our construction supervisor does his morning orientation only at the very beginning of the
day)
Please
bring your lunch with you, a lunch-break is built into the day.
HIGHLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT
THE SITE our construction manager or assistant site supervisors will be there. Ask for them when you first
arrive or keep your eyes peeled for their bright yellow Habitat baseball caps. They will help you sign in,
find a place to work, and provide necessary tools and supplies.VERY IMPORTANT: Please be sure to "SIGN
IN" and "SIGN OUT" as the supervisors show you. This is essential to maintaining our insurance coverage for
volunteers, without which we could not operate. Please fill out all requested information each time. Please
read the posted safety instructions before starting work.

huge thank you goes out to all of York Habitat's AmeriCorps*VISTAs (Volunteers In Service To America). Without them,
York Habitat for Humanity would not have functioned over the past few years. They define volunteerism. As
of February 2007, York Habitat will no longer be hosting VISTA members but there is no telling what the future may bring
so check back for upcoming opportunities!
