January Volunteer in the Spotlight

York Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce our January Volunteer in the Spotlight, Cristina Andrewleski. Cristina started volunteering with York Habitat for Humanity two years ago and has helped with orientations and information sessions for prospective families looking to join the program.
“I think that Habitat is important in our community because it gives families the advantage of owning their own home when it might not have been possible through other regular home-ownership programs,” said Cristina following a recent home owner’s session.
Cristina also brings another special talent to York Habitat. Because she is a native Spanish speaker, Cristina is able to help with interpreting services for Latino clients and prospects. This is important for her because she wants to make sure as many people know about the program and benefits as possible. Cristina doesn’t want language barriers to prevent eligible applicants from having the opportunity to gain homeownership through Habitat.
She plans to continue to volunteer for Habitat because she sees a great need in our community to provide these essential services and to make sure that Latinos are aware of the opportunities available to them.
