Rutter's Vote With Your Dollars

Dear York Habitat Friend:

We are excited to announce that York Habitat for Humanity has been selected as one of the finalists in the Rutter’s Vote with Your Dollars program for 2018! We will be competing to receive a $20,000 grant from Rutter’s to help build our next York Habitat home.

You can help us get this much-needed funding! It’s as easy as 1,2,3!
1. Log in to ruttersrewards.com or the Rutter’s mobile app.
2. Click the Vote With Your Dollars Button, then Select York Habitat for Humanity from the list and click the Support selected charity button.
3. Each time you shop at Rutter’s using your Rutter’s Rewards card or Phone Number ID and passcode, it will now count as a vote for York Habitat.

If we collect the most votes, our organization will receive a donation from Rutter’s. The top three organizations will be winners. It’s as easy as that!

Date Set for 15th Annual York Habitat for Humanity 5k Run/Walk

Run/Walk is set for Dover

York Habitat for Humanity has announced that the organization’s 15th annual 5K run/walk fundraiser will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018. This year’s event, once again tabbed “I Survived the Hills for Habitat 5K,” will again take place in Dover, PA using the popular rolling course which starts and ends on Allen Lane in Dover Borough. Registration begins at 7:00 AM and the run/walk starts at 8:30 AM on race day.

York Habitat is also encouraging participants to “Be a Hero” for a York Habitat for Humanity Family. Along those lines, participants are asked to dress as their favorite Super Hero. Habitat expects some runners, but mostly walkers to dress up for the event. Prizes will be awarded for the best “Hero” costumes.

“All year, York Habitat has been honoring those who help make our cause their own by acknowledging them as a “Hero,” said York Habitat’s Associate Director Mark Mattern. “This really is a wonderful opportunity for folks with a common interest, to come out, run and walk to be healthy all while helping create first-time home owner families all over York County.”

Over the years, more than 1,600 runners and walkers have taken part in the York Habitat event which starts and ends in a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. Funds raised go directly to York Habitat for Humanity to better provide low-income York County residents with the opportunity to purchase a safe, decent, affordable home.

On the running side, prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in eight different age categories. The top overall male and female runners will also receive special recognition. Donated snacks and drinks will be available at the race site.

All levels of sponsorships are still available for this year’s event.

Special thanks to a great partner of York Habitat for Humanity, U-Stor-it. U-Stor-It has stepped up and has helped in so many ways. U-Stor-It is providing York Habitat storage space for future home owners as well as a space for furniture items that have been donated to York Habitat. Previously, U-Stor-It also served as a drop off point for their customers and the public to drop off donations for new Habitat homeowners. Items pictured here were collected by U-Stor-It have helped make a house a home for Habitat partner families.
