York Habitat for Humanity has the honor of recognizing Jane Dodson as our March Volunteer in the Spotlight. Jane has been volunteering with our affiliate since 1986, the very beginning of our affiliate! You can find Jane out on our build sites, serving on our committees, mentoring our Habitat families, and volunteering in the office. When asked why she has volunteered with us all of these years she said, “In 1986 my Pastor was very involved with the incorporation of the York affiliate, and she knew then what a great organization was.” She continued on to say “Volunteering with YHFH is the most rewarding experience she has ever had.” Thank you for giving back to the York Community and for helping York Habitat families achieve their dreams of homeownership Jane!
We simply can not say enough about the wonderful people at the Horn Foundation. We are always thrilled to see Steph Holmes and this Thursday morning was no different. Steph presented York Habitat with a significant donation for a future build. Thank You Horn Foundation!
It's a new month and you know what that means!! Time to share our February Volunteer in the Spotlight. Pat Nelson began volunteering with us on our build sites early 2016. He loved the Habitat Mission and working on the sites, but he wanted to contribute more. In 2017 he committed to sharing the Habitat Mission and scheduling over 75 volunteer spots on our Saturday build days, and succeeded! He then joined our Board of Directors and has since become the Chair Person of our Volunteer Recruitment Committee. We are grateful for his commitment to our work, as well as his heart for our Habitat Families. Thank you Pat!!
We had such a great time at the 50th Home & Garden Show this past weekend and enjoyed meeting each and every one of you! Our raffle winners are beginning to pick up their prizes, and we are loving the joy on their faces! Thanks to Rick Prough, the winner of the $1,000 coupon towards granite counter tops donated by Atlantic Custom Granite & Marble and Matt Stackhouse, the winner of the Dewalt Socket Set for attending the Home & Garden Show and participating in our raffle. Enjoy your prizes!
The York Cowboys Fan Club Golf Outing to support York Habitat for Humanity occurred on August 26, 2017! It was a day of golfing, prizes, Cowboys football, and competition! We had teams of 4 golfers who registered to golf with us to raise money for affordable housing!
In August of 2017, YHFH dedicated our 123rd home to Tonya Hunter and her children, Khaleel, Sadiyah, Jaleelah, and Khaleesah. This home was a rehab, and will allow each of the kids to have their own bedroom! Thank you so much to everyone who supported the Hunter family during this process.
Thank you for coming out on this beautiful day for this year’s 5k! We are so glad that we got the chance to race with you this morning to raise money to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for those in need in York County!
In June of 2017, York Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 122nd home to Raquel Morales and her grandson. This home was a rehab of a run-down city property. It will now allow Raquel and her grandson to live in safe, decent conditions.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25
